It’s getting colder here in NYC and I want to bundle up Mr. Amazing in something warm and luxurious. He had talked about wanting to buy a new winter hat so I took the chance to offer to make him one instead. I’ll be gifting it to him later tonight. I’m pretty sure he’ll love it.
This free pattern seems to be one of the most popular men’s hat on ravelry. I can see why. It’s simple, easy, not too flashy, versatile and wearable.
Honestly, I think it looks pretty good on a woman, too.
Even looks great as a slouchy hat, right?
What makes this hat so great, imo, is the yarn I used: Prism Merino 12. It’s a chunky 100% merino wool in a grey/black blend that is extremely plush and lush. It’s the first time for me using this particular brand and I will be keeping an eye out for other Prism yarns since this one was a delight to knit with. I also used a pair of nickel plated circular needles for the first time. A bit pricy but hotdiggity(!!) knitting this yarn with those needles was extremely pleasurable. The yarn just glides on and off the needles and it feels amazing as you knit.
I had to buy another skein of the yarn after I ran out 8 rows from the top. Now I have almost a full skein of this awesome yarn left. I’ve already decided to use it to knit Mr. Amazing a matching Bandy sans the bow/cinch.
And yes, you read that correctly, I decided to call my headwrap…Bandy.
